Robert L. "Bob" Recker Kimball - Robert L. "Bob" Recker, 73, passed away from a short illness on Friday, November 2, 2007 in Port Huron Hospital. He was born May 9, 1934 in Port Huron to the late John and Norma Recker. He married Elaine R. Jahn on September 14, 1957 in Port Huron. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1956-57. He was the golf course superintendent at Port Huron Golf Club retiring after 31 years. He then served as a groundskeeper at Fore Lakes Golf Club for 8 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Smith Creek Post; the National Rifle Association and the Golf Course Superintendents Association. Bob loved to golf, hunt and feed and watch birds. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elaine R. Recker of Kimball; daughters, Nina Recker of Kimball and Shelley Stafford of Jeffersonville, IN; grandchildren, Tate, Asher and Bryce Stafford, all of Jeffersonville, IN; brothers, Bernard, Charles, Richard and David; sisters, Barbara Desero, Joyla Kelton and Dorothy Pendrock; many nieces and nephews; godsons, Marc Desero, Scott Gurnsey and Robert Lee and special friends, Robert and Roberta Gurnsey. He is preceded in death by his brother, Donald and his brother-in-law, Frank Desero. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Max Amstutz will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service time. His ashes will be interred in Mt. Hope Cemetery at a later date.
