Lucille Jones

Lucille
E. (Armstrong) Jones, 79, died Thursday, August 14 th ,
2008, In Detroit, MI after a brief illness. She was born April 8 th ,
1929 to Edward E. and Elizabeth J. (Johnston) Armstrong.
Lucille
attended St. Stephens in Port Huron, MI, graduating in 1947. She
was employed as a secretary at Mueller Brass before marrying and
raising five children. She married Thomas R. Jones on August 26 th ,
1950; he preceded her in death on July 2 nd ,
2007. Lucille was a homemaker and volunteered her services with many
organizations throughout her life including local PTAs, YWCA, Red
Cross, Boy Scouts, local hospitals and animal shelters. She was also
a member of the St. Stephens Catholic Community.
She
was an avid reader and had a deep love for animals, taking in strays
and adopting many dogs, cats, birds and sheep throughout her life.
She enjoyed antiques and collecting and participated in many shows
throughout Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. Along with her family, she
restored a historic farm residence just outside of Van Wert, Ohio.
She was a familiar face at local auctions and also had numerous
collectibles interests.
Lucille
was a very self-sufficient, independent woman, who enjoyed her home
and family. Also, she was a warm, caring person, who seemingly had a
greeting card for every occasion.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Janet Lynn (Jones)
Wyandt, and a half-brother Edward Roberts (Teddy) Armstrong.
Survivors
include; two sons, T. Lindsay (Amy) Jones, of Oconomowoc, WI and MAJ
(RET) James E. (Laura) Jones of Van Wert, OH; Two daughters, Karen
Jones of Houston, TX and Jacqueline A. (Jones) Ramsey of Bullhead
City, AZ; Grandchildren, Heidi Jones, Thomas (Christa)Jones, Shannon
Jones, Preston Ramsey, Ashley Jones, Derek Jones, Melissa Bloomfield,
and Mackenzie Jones; A brother, John (Betty) Armstrong of Port Huron,
MI and a sister, Virginia Powers of Monroe, MI; and many nieces and
nephews, aunts and uncles.
Family
will receive friends Saturday, August 23 rd ,
2008, 10am 12pm at the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home in Port Huron,
MI. Memorials can be made to the St. Clair County Humane Society.
