Robert D Beauchamp

Robert D. Beauchamp, 88, took Jesus’s hand and went to his Heavenly home on November 23, 2013. He was born in Marine City, Mi. February 3, 1925 to Burt and Nora (Ryan) Beauchamp, the fourth born of six children. He served his country proudly as a radar operator in the United States Army from March 1943 to January 1946 in New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon. Robert was married January 25, 1947 to Joan M. Arnold at Holy Cross Church in Marine City and she survives him.

He was a lifelong salesman beginning his career selling dental supplies and insurance, eventually culminating in the creation of Beauchamp Real Estate in 1967 where he was as honest as the day was long and unselfishly helped many people achieve their dream of owning a home. He served as president of the Board of Realtors in 1972 after which he acted as Chairman for their Grievance Committee the following year. Robert was active in his church and was forever a loving father and husband. He sold his home in 1988 and retired to Port Huron to the house he had built on the lake. His joys in life were spending time with his family, playing cards and enjoying his beach house where their home was a favorite gathering place for family and friends.

He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife, Joan, of 66 years and their children, David (Norma) Beauchamp of Ann Arbor, MI, Daniel (Jill) Beauchamp of Ann Arbor, MI, Karen (Richard) Pauly of Pigeon, MI, Laura (Donald) Mallory of Tecumseh, MI, Janette (Michael) Rogensues of Clinton Twp., MI and Mary (Jeff) Birmingham of Saline, MI, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is survived by one sister Mary Rutkowski and preceded in death by one grandchild, Alex Rogensues, a sister Grace Fillion and three brothers, Warren, Norbert and Richard.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 pm Sunday, December 1, 2013 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 10 am Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm Sunday evening.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Monday at 11am, December 2, 2013 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium with honors conducted under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
