Richard Raymond Hyatt, 91, of Port Huron, went to be with the Lord, unexpectedly, Wednesday, December 11, 2013. He was born September 26, 1922 in Marysville.
He served in World War II in the 114th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion in the U.S. Army. He earned the European Theater Ribbon with two bronze stars, a good conduct medal and a World War II victory medal.
Richard loved to cook. He attended The River Church of God, where he loved to serve his Savior.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara; his son, Rick (Stella) Hyatt of Charleston, SC, daughters, Ellen (Dale) Goulette of Fort Gratiot, Donna (Paul) Stroh of Jeddo, and Sharon (Stan) Slishinsky of New Baltimore; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Patricia Peavley.
Richard was preceded in death by two sons, Roger Thomas on June 21st, 1963 and Norman Allen on March 24, 1981.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013 in The River Church of God.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in The River Church of God. Pastor Bill Wahl will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
