Ruth Smith Abdoo, 92, a lifelong

resident of Port Huron, died peacefully on October 16, 2008 at the

Barss Residential Home in Fort Gratiot after a lengthy illness.

She was born March 1, 1916 in Port

Huron to the late John K. and Frances Leahy.

Ruth was the loving wife of George

L. Smith who preceded her in death February 5, 1959 on their

twenty-first wedding anniversary.

Ruth enjoyed her many years working

at Sperry's and Ann L's Dress Shoppe.

She married Elmer J. Abdoo May 31,

1985 and he preceded her in death November 18, 1996.

Ruth was a true blessing to her five

children: Dave L. Smith, Carol (Douglas) Touma, Ann Choiniere, Dan

(Carol) Smith and Sue (John) Booms. She also leaves behind one

step-son, Richard (Joan) Abdoo, step-daughter-in-law, Sally Abdoo

Patterson, sister-in-law, Mary Leahy, 16 grandchildren, 18 great

grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were her

four brothers: Morris, Jack, Bob and Paul Leahy, daughter-in-law,

Patricia A. Smith, son-in-law, Tom Choiniere and step-son, Robert

Abdoo.

Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 and

7:00 to 9:00 pm. Sunday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. There

will be a Rosary recited at 7:30 pm. Sunday in the funeral home

Mass of the Resurrection will be

at 10:00 am. Monday in St. Mary Church. The Reverend Simeon T. Iber,

Pastor will preside. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Ruth's

grandsons will be her pallbearers.

Memorials, in her memory, may be

made to Blue Water Hospice.

Ruth's family would like to thank

the Barss Home for their loving care over the past 4 years.
