Mary F. Gonzales, 86, of Port Huron, died Friday, May 30, 2014 in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born February 23, 1928 in Caro, MI. She married Charles Gonzales on Dec. 18, 1948 in Port Huron. He died Aug. 27, 1990.
Mrs. Gonzales retired from Ford Motor Company. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She volunteered with St. Vincent DePaul and was an election day poll worker. She loved shopping with her daughters and granddaughters, loved to cook and was extremely generous with her family.
She is survived by her son, Thomas A. Gonzales of Fort Gratiot; daughters, Sally J (David R.) Valdez of Marysville and Mary Ann (Wayne E.) Moses of Ft. Gratiot; sons, Carl J. Gonzales of San Marcos, CA, Joseph E. Gonzales of Port Huron and James C. (Janet) Gonzales of Murrieta, CA; step-son, Charles Ray Gonzales of Port Huron; grandchildren, Jodi, Kyle, Jennifer, Jeanette, Jessica, Erik, Leticia, Justin, Joseph, Matthew, Jeremy and Justin; several great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Manuel Almanza and Luce (Bonnie) Almanza; sisters, Emily (Thomas) Hamming, Isabel Pierce and Theresa Almanza; brother, Joseph (Kathy) Almanza and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Robert Almanza; sister, Cecelia and brothers, Robert and Isidro.
Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service time at church. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday June 4 2014 in St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Pallbearers will be Erik Moses, Jeremy and Justin Gonzales, Pete Ruiz, David Pierce and Rick Rodriguez
Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice or Holy Trinity Parish
