Merryanne Class
December 25th, 1933 to June 4th, 2014
Merryanne Class was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1933, and died on June 4, 2014, in Providence Park Hospital. She was 80 years old.
She lived most of her life in Port Huron.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Class, Jr.; her parents, Sidney E. and Freda P. Dunbar; and two brothers, Robert Graves and Sidney E. Dunbar, Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Catherine (Daniel) Weir, of Midland, MI; her daughter Deanna (Michael) Jokinen, of Minneapolis, MN; her sons David (Cindy) Sams, of Hartland, MI; Donald Sams, of New York, NY; and Kevin (Bernadette Lo) Class, of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Merryanne's life passion was music. She was blessed with a beautiful soprano singing voice, which she shared with the world as a soloist and choir member throughout her life. She was a longtime member of the International Symphony Singers and the Port Huron Musicale Chorus.
She was a 20-year member of the Port Huron Musicale, where she served in several board positions, including president. She was active in the Port Huron Chapter #2603 of the AARP and served as its president for several years.
In her senior years, she was an enthusiastic participant in activities at the St. Clair County Council on Aging in Port Huron where she directed the Choraleers choir, lead the Walk to the Beat drill team, taught hula and danced with the Hula Grannies, and performed in the Over 50 Follies for several years.
She was an active member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints most of her life, and the Restored Church of Jesus Christ in her later years.
In accordance with Merryanne's wishes, there will be a private burial at Lakeside Cemetery and no memorial service. On her behalf, Merryanne's family thanks her friends for creating the joyful events of her life.
