Richard
Dick Lewis Gordon, 68 years old, passed away Saturday, December
13, 2008, surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren
in St. John's Hospital. He was born July 16, 1940, in Port
Huron to the late Lewis Elmer and Marie Eleanor (Richards)
Gordon. He married Margaret Eleanor Alloway, August 16, 1958.
Dick worked
many years as a labor and for the Port Huron Area School District as
a custodian. He was always interested in people, did not matter
who they were he would always stir up a conversation. He also
enjoyed tending to his flower gardens, traveling when he could,
riding his bike, tinkering with his Model A's and Model T's but most
of all spending time with family and friends
He is survived by
his loving wife Margaret Peggy of 50 years, a good father to
his four children, Lewis (Susie) Gordon, Smith Creek, Mary Lynn
(Ralph) Anderson, Port Huron, Craig (Sandy) Gordon, Clyde Township,
Chris (Theresa) Gordon, Port Huron Township, a wonderful Grandfather,
PaPa to some, to his ten grandchildren, Amanda Anderson,
Matthew Anderson, Christina Gordon, Luke Gordon, Nicholas Gordon,
Connie Jo Gordon, Caylee Gordon, Caleb Gordon, Laura Towns and
Katelyn Roller, and the oldest brother to Charles (Alice) Gordon,
Dunedin, Fla. and George (Marsha) Gordon, Marysville; sister-in-law,
Theresa (Joe) Oles of Kimball; sister-in-law, Joanne (Joe) Napolitan
of Port Huron; sister-in-law, Mary (Jim) Davis of Port Huron;
brother-in-law, Pat Alloway and Sue Hopkins of Port Huron and
sister-in-law, Betty Alloway of Mt. Pleasant. He will be sadly
missed by the host of friends from McDonalds.
He was preceded in
death by his parents Lewis Elmer and Marie Eleanor Gordon;
mother-in-law, Elizabeth Nichols and brother-in-law, Jim Alloway.
Visitation will be
2-4 and 6-9 pm Tuesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9:30 am
Wednesday at the church. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm
Tuesday evening.
Mass of
resurrection will be 10:00 am Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic
Church. The Rev. Simeon T. Iber, Pastor will officiate.
Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
His grandchildren
will serve as his pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
