Robert L. Humes 83, of Port Huron, died Sunday, July 27, 2014 in Kingston, Michigan.
He was born November 5, 1930 in Port Huron, the son of the late Clyde and Mary (DiDuca) Humes. He married Barbara L. Tassen on April 28, 1958 in Detroit. She died on June 9, 2012.
Robert was a graduate of East Detroit High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a Civil War buff, coin collector and an avid sports fan.
Mr. Humes was employed as a salesman with the Western and Southern Insurance Company.
He is survived by his son, Daniel B. (Kimberly) Humes of Kingston, MI and two granddaughters, Amanda Humes of Omaha, NE and Jamie Humes of Macomb. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey C. Humes and a brother, Raymond Humes.
Funeral services will be 12 noon on Saturday, August 2, 2014 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Reverend Phil Whetstone of Colonial Woods Missionary Church will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
