R. Thomas Cummings, 72, of Port

Huron, died Friday, January 9, 2009 in his home.

He was born October 19, 1936 in

Port Huron to the late Reginald and Helen Cummings and was a life

long resident.

Tom married the former Rosemary

Tomlinson February 4, 1961 at St. Joseph Church, Port Huron.

He attended St. Joseph grade

school and was a 1954 graduate of St. Stephen High School. He then

joined the U. S. Navy and was discharged in 1957. He returned to

Port Huron, attended SC4 and graduated from Western Michigan

University in 1964. Tom became a Certified Public Accountant and

began his career with Ernst and Ernst in 1964 and retired from his

own firm, Cummings, Frohm and Wagley May 1, 2002. He was a member of

the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the

A.I.C.P.A. and a member of the Port Huron Estate Planning Council.

He was a member of St. Joseph Church where he served as a lector and

a former member of St. Stephen Church where he was very active. He

was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Port Huron and

past president of Black River Country Club. Tom was a member of the

U.S.S. Salem Alumni Association. He was an avid golfer and bowler.

He also enjoyed bridge and gardening and had finally achieved his

lifetime dream of living on the St. Clair River where he could boat.

Tom is survived by his wife of 47

Years, Rosemary, his children, Julie Gonzales of Royal Oak, Barbara

(Tom) McKinch of Toledo, OH, Paul (Ako) Cummings of San Jose, CA,

Elizabeth (Robert) Maldonado of Trenton and Andrew (Chandra) Cummings

of Louisville, KY; nine grandchildren; sister-in-law, Beverly

Cummings of Marysville and her children Marcie Brown of Brighton and

Mark Cummings of Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law, Theresa (Bill)

Jacobson of Port Huron and brother-in-law, Richard (Elaine) Tomlinson

of E. China.

He was preceded in death by his

brother, William A. Cummings.

Visitation for Tom will be Sunday

from 2 to 4:00 and 6 to 8:00 p.m. in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Church with visiting

beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Brian K. Cokonougher, pastor,

will preside.

Memorials, in Tom's memory, may be

made to the Salvation Army, St. Vincent dePaul Society or the Port

Huron Kiwanis Foundation.
