Frederick N DeBell

Frederick N. DeBell, 91, of Port Huron Twp., died Sunday, October 5, 2014, after a short illness.

He was born July 24, 1923 in Port Huron. He married Clara Marie Bagnell on June 7, 1946. She died in May of 2013.

Frederick was the youngest of 11 children in his family.

Frederick raised Boston Bull Terriers for 65 years and was known as the “Dogman”. He loved planting flowers and trees and operated a hobby farm and dog kennels.

He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946 and was a member of the Marysville American Legion Post #449.

He is survived by his children, Frederick N. “Skip” (Patricia) DeBell, Albert E. “Rocky” (Joanne) DeBell, Annette (Greg) Stoudt, and Darryl (Rollande “Rollie”) DeBell; 21 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda E. Jex in 2005; infant great-grandson Brandon Lee DeBell in 1990 and his 10 siblings.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 in Holy Trinity Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church with visitation one half hour before the service. The Reverend Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Parish-St. Stephen Catholic Church.
