Joseph A. Johns
June 19th, 1923 to February 6th, 2009
Joseph A. Johns went on to a new life
on Friday, February 6, 2009 after a short illness.
Joseph was born on June 19, 1923 in
Port Huron, and spent most of his childhood in Hardine, Lebanon. He
came back to Port Huron where he retired from Prestolite Corp after
35 years of service. He was also the former owner of the Beverage
Shop Party Store in Port Huron. Joseph was quite the outdoorsman.
Josephs hobbies included his love of fishing, hunting and
gardening.
Joseph was the devoted husband of 53
years to Theresa Johns loving father of Dianne (Fort Gratiot), Kathy(
Port Huron), Lori (Long Beach, CA), and was preceded in death by his
eldest son Joey. He was a caring brother of Rose Saleh ( Hardine,
Lebanon). Referred to as Papa Joe by his grandkids, he played a big
role as grandfather to Danelle Roberts(London, England), Nicole
Driver ( Harrison Twp), Jamie and Alex Johns -Moore ( Fort Gratiot),
and great-grandfather to Adelynn Borntrager ( Sterling Heights). He
was a loyal brother-in-law to: Eddie Assi (Sydney Australia),
Tony(Georgette) Assi (Port Huron), Tamina (George) Bashora ( Hardine,
Lebanon), Najeba Dib (Hardine, Lebanon), Joe (Christine) Assi (Port
Huron), and the late George and Marie Assi (Port Huron). More of
Josephs family members include: George(Phyliss) Hassey (Columbus,
Ohio), Mike (Eileen) Abraham ( Phoenix, AZ), and the late Fred
(Virginia) Thomas, Joseph was a remembered uncle to many nieces and
nephews, relatives and friends that span the globe including his
beloved pets Captain and Bella!!
Joseph, Dad, Papa Joe, you have given
us a beautiful life! Until we meet again we will keep you in our
hearts! Your spirit for life, devotion to family and your good will
towards all will live within us!
Funeral Services will be held at 10
a.m. Wednesday in St. Stephen Church. The Rev. Brian Cokonougher,
Pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p. m. and 7
to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A
scripture service will be held 7 pm Tuesday evening.
Pallbearers will be Fred Assi, Ryan
Assi, Anthony Assi, E.J. Assi, Camille Khabbaz, and Maroun
Abou-Ghanem.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the
grandchildren.
Memorials, in memory of Joseph, may be
made to the wishes of the family.
