Theodore J. “Ted” Benedict, 73, of Fort Gratiot, died Saturday, November 22, 2014.
He was born March 21, 1941 in Berlin Township, Michigan to the late Louis and Mary (Callander) Benedict.
Ted married Barbara Sue Henson on October 10, 1981 in Shreveport, LA. She preceded him in death on February 1, 2000.
He was a 1959 graduate of Marysville High School and served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam. Ted worked as a millwright, an aircraft mechanic, was employed at Mueller Brass Co and most recently was a truck driver. He loved to read and enjoyed gardening. Ted loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Bill) McMurtrie, Dottie (Bob) Brayman, Cindy (Mike) Nichols, Susan Watson-Benedict, son Joe (Lianne) Benedict, daughter, Carol Ann Beck-Edwards, son, Brent Henson and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Watson, sister, Mary Ethel (Ted) Baker and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ted was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Ray Benedict and sister, Elizabeth Ann Benedict.
Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Pastor Stan Liechty of Colonial Woods Missionary Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot with military honors under auspices of the U.S. Air Force and the Veteran’s Honor Guard Alliance.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans..
