Richard A Ganhs

Richard A. Ganhs, 80, of Port Huron Township, passed away after a courageous battle with COPD, on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the home of his daughter, surrounded by his children.
He was born November 19, 1934 in Port Huron, the son of the late John and Orpha Ganhs. He married Noreen M. Chartier on April 24, 1954 in Port Huron. She died on June 3, 2013.
Mr. Ganhs worked for the C & O Railroad until his retirement. He was a wonderful provider and role model.
Richard loved to tell a good joke and even a bad one. He liked to write poetry and would recite poetry that he learned as a child.
He loved spending time with his family and his family will remember him through his jokes, stories and words of wisdom.
He is survived by his children, Jeff (Lynn) Ganhs, Susan (Stephen) Riehl, Beth (Nancy) Ganhs, Mary Jo (Michael) Morgan, Nancy (Robert) Wojciechowski, and Douglas (Erika) Ganhs; son-in-law, Wayne Brennan; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Manchester, sister-in-law, Doris Ganhs; and cherished friends, Bob and Bobbie Gurnsey, Butch Fuller, Mike and Beth Sweitzer, Joe and Becky Fleming and Tony and Lynn Kamendat. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia M. Brennan on February 14, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in the Karrer-Simpon Funeral Home with visitation 2 hours prior to the service. Deacon Dennis Crimmins will officiate.
Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice.
