George B. Stracenrider, Jr.
May 6th, 1948 to March 19th, 2015
George B. Stracenrider, Jr., 66, of Port Huron, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 19, 2015.
He was born May 6, 1948 in Port Huron, the son of the late George B. and Geraldine Stracenrider. George and Gerri began dating in January of 1965 and were later married on April 21, 1972 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.
George had a deep love for life and an affection for his family and friends. He was extremely proud of his two children and the love he had for his wife was immeasurable. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University.
George was a financial analyst at Port Huron Hospital, retiring after 40 years of loyal service. He was a member of the Port Huron Police Department’s VIP’s, Port Huron Jaycees and the Knights of Columbus Father William F. Welch Council No. 11756.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gerri; daughter, Heather Stracenrider (Rich Urban and Allison and Ethan); son, Adam Stracenrider; two sisters, Janice Kean and Valerie Gossman; brother, John Wheeler; mother-in-law, Joyce Conard; four brothers-in-law, Tony (Sue) Conard, Dick (Ellen) Conard, Joe (Sharon) Conard and Steve (Barb) Conard; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia D’Alesandro.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Visiting will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the church.
Memorials may be made to the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute or the Port Huron Hospital Foundation.
