Lawrence Francis Skotzke, 69, of Fort Gratiot, died Monday, June 30, 2025.

He was born December 16, 1955 in Grosse Pointe to the late Chester and Mary Skotzke. He married Theresa L. Woods on October 12, 1991 in Port Huron.

Larry graduated from Marine City High School in 1974. He began his career at Ford Motor Company and served as a reserve officer for the Richmond Police Department while attending the Police Academy. Upon completing the academy, he joined the Richmond Police Department as a full-time officer before transferring to the Port Huron Police Department in October 1987, where he served until his retirement in 2003. He later worked with IBEW Local 58, officially retiring for good in 2020.

Larry loved attending luncheons with fellow law enforcement retirees. He enjoyed being outdoors- hunting trips in Alpena with his family, boating, bonfires with friends, trips up North, and was an avid connoisseur of fermented beverages. In his younger years, he was an avid scuba diver. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #158.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Theresa; four daughters, Amber (Matt) Sabo, Rachele Skotzke (Scott Jackson), Chelsea Skotzke and Corrine Skotzke; son, Chet Skotzke; ten grandchildren, Gypsy, Colin, Addi, London, Lydia, Forrest, Zeek, Isaiah, Otto and Alanis; three sisters, Janet Wearing, Gerry (Al) Bojakowski and Mary Anne Kruger; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene F. Skotzke.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, in Lakeside Cemetery Chapel. Deacon Dennis Crimmins will officiate.
