Hilda McGuigan-Montgomery
July 5th, 1921 to May 2nd, 2009

Hilda J. McGuigan-Montgomery, 87,
passed away peacefully while surrounded by loving family on May 2,
2009, following a fairly short illness. Born July 5, 1921 in Yale,
Michigan to Charles and Ethel Strevel, Hildas turn in heaven is
well earned and deserved. She was recognized by many to be a care
giving, helpful person, who enjoyed good health and high energy. She
assisted several senior people with their health care and personal
needs, and was known to enjoy playing cards with her girlfriends,
trying her luck at the casino, playing the lottery, and helping Jim
Leland manage the Tigers. She was a strong, proud person, who
conquered numerous lifetime challenges, to say the least!
In addition to caring for her family
throughout the years, Hilda was employed at several companies
including the Yale Wool Mill, S.S. Kresge, Frenchs Bakery,
Banner-Linen, and St. Clair Metal. She was a hard working leader,
respected for her workplace contributions and genuine concern for
people.
Hilda is survived by many people who
dearly loved her including two sons, Gary (Kay) Milutin, Port Huron
Twp. and Jim (Kay) McGuigan, Marysville; grandchildren Greg (Angie)
Smith, Florida; Tom Smith, Florida; Lisa (Tyson) Hauschild, Florida;
Gary Smith, Grand Rapids; Terri (Dave) Sickles, Port Huron Twp.; Ron
(Pam) Milutin, Port Huron Twp., Don (Kris) Jensen, East China Twp.;
Tricia (Bill) Collier, Kimball Twp.; Jim (Casey) McGuigan, Gaylord;
and Erin McGuigan, Marysville. She was also blessed with 15 great
grandchildren, numerous friends and the extremely caring staff
members at Porthaven Manor and Barss Residential Care.
Hilda was preceded in death by her
parents; husbands Terrance Milutin, John Jack McGuigan and
George Montgomery, respectively; daughters Sharon Smith and Carol
Samson; a sister, Frances Hill; brothers James and Reed Strevel, and
Kenneth Pearce.
Please join Hildas family in
honoring and celebrating her wonderful life, during visiting hours at
Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home, Port Huron. Hours are 2-4 and 6-8
Monday and Tuesday. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 11
a.m., at the funeral home, with visiting beginning at 10 oclock.
Pastor Doug Studaker will officiate. Following cremation, Hildas
ashes will be gently placed forever in peace, in Lakeside Cemetery,
Port Huron. Those wishing to contribute a memorial may do so in the
name of the St. Clair County Council on Aging.
