Helen L. Carpa, 88, of Port Huron, died

Friday, May 15, 2009 surrounded by her family in Port Huron Hospital.

She was born May 4, 1921 in Port

Huron daughter of the late William and Mae (Seaton) Dedow.

Helen married James J. Carpa on

January 1, 1941 in St. Joseph Rectory by Msgr. T.A. Connell. He

preceded her in death on March 7, 2000.

She was a 1939 graduate of Port

Huron High School. Helen was formerly employed at W.B.A. (now

Women's Life insurance Society) and Chrysler Corporation in

Marysville. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since

1959 and served as Past President and honorary member of the

Christian Mothers Society.

She is survived by her son, James

J. (Janice M. ) Carpa, Jr of Bettendorf, IA; daughter, Frances Mae

Harms of Kimball; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 5 great

-great-grandchildren; brothers, Leroy W. (Madonna) Dickinson of Port

Huron; Donald E. (Betty) Dickinson of Port Huron; Russell L.

Dickinson of Port Huron; James E. (Joanne) Dickinson of Port Huron;

sister, Carolyn K. Hamilton of Bartow, FL; brother-in-law, George

(Eleanor) Carpa of San Diego, CA; brother-in-law, Leo J. (Helen)

Carpa of Port Huron and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by

brothers, Robert L, Harold K. and Clarence J. Dickinson; sister,

Dorothy M. Collins and son-in-law Norman L. Harms, Sr.

Funeral services will be 10a.m.

Monday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher,

Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Visiting hours are 2-4 and 7-9 pm

Sunday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with a scripture service at

7 pm.

Pallbearers will be Leroy,

Russell, Donald and James Dickinson, John Carpa and Scottie

MacDonald. Honorary pallbearers are Ronald Freeman, Richard

Freeman, Allen Horn, Brian Felk, David Carpa and Norman Harms, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may

be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the American Diabetes

Association.
