Joseph
William Platzer, 69 of Port Huron died June 1st, 2009 after losing
his courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 7th, 1940 to
Joseph & Margaret Platzer.
Mr.
Platzer served his community for 32 years as a police officer for the
City of Port Huron, retiring in 2000 as a Lieutenant. Mr. Platzer
enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman,
bowler, & guitarist. He was well known for his wood working
& craftsmanship.
Mr.
Platzer is survived by his wife Shirley of 47 years, daughter
Elizabeth Markle & son-in-law Steve of New Port Richey, Florida,
his sons Joseph & daughter-in-law Nanette of Fort Gratiot and
David & daughter-in-law Carrie of Colorado Springs, Colorado,
brother John & sister-in-law Lilly of Port Huron, 3 grandchildren
Jacob, Nicholas & Alexandra of Fort Gratiot, 1 granddaughter
Natasha of Fort Wayne, Indiana, 2 great-grandchildren Travon &
Kyra of Fort Wayne, Indiana, 2 Aunts: Marie Nuszkiewicz &
husband Ted of Kimball Township & Berdie MacNeil of Port Huron
and several nieces & nephews.
Mr.
Platzer was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Sheryl Lynn
Madej of Pensacola, Florida in 1984.
Funeral
services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Visitation
will be 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. until
the service time at the funeral home.
In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice.
