Cynthia
N. Shady, 64, beloved mother and grandmother,
of Port Huron and Naples, FL passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 in
her home surrounded by her loving family,
after a 2 year battle with cancer. She was born December
30, 1944 in Detroit and has lived in the Port Huron and Marysville
area since 1977. Cynthia married Al Shady on November 6, 1965 in
Detroit. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2005. Cindy
was very involved in the community as a life long member of the Quota
Club. She voluntered many years for the March of Dimes and the Beacon
Society of Port Huron Hospital Foundation. She was also a very
generous supporter of many of the areas local youth hockey and
baseball programs. She was an avid golfer, a member of the Port
Huron Golf Club, The Elks Lodge 343 and The Strand Golf Club in
Naples, Fl. She
is survived by daughters, Deborah (Pat) Pearson of St. Clair; Lori
Shady
of Port Huron and
Lynnette Shady of Port Huron; grandsons, Alec, Kyle, Cole and Zachary
Pearson; granddaughter, Aliana Shady; brother, Fred (Nanette) Bednarz
of Saginaw; sister, Nancy (Tom) Buczynski of Southgate; mother-in-law
Mary Shady of Dearborn and son-in-law Mike Pearson of Port
Huron. Cynthia was also
preceded
in death by her parents Fred and Emily Bednarz and brother Ronald
Bednarz. Pallbearers
will be Pat Pearson, Mike Pearson, Fred Bednarz, Bruce Soifer, Bob
Brewer, Pat Eagen and Walt Crosby. Honorary pallbearers will be her
grandsons, Alec, Kyle, Cole and Zachary Pearson Funeral
services will be 11 am Friday in Colonial Woods Missionary Church.
Pastor Phil Whetstone will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope
Cemetery. Visiting hours are 6-8 pm Wednesday, 2-9 pm Thursday in
the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 10 am Friday until
the time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm Thursday evening. Memorials in
memory of Cynthia may be given to St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital. Mom,
the sacrifices you have made for our family will be remembered and
appreciated forever. Your kindness and generocity will continue to
inspire us everyday. You are a woman of great strength and courage
and you will remain our hero forever. We are not afraid,
because we will all be together again one day. We are so proud of
