Donald R. Bailey, 71, of Port Huron

died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 in his home following a courageous battle

with cancer.

He was born December 16, 1937 in

Port Huron and has lived here all his life.

Donald married Betty G. Putze on

May 6, 1967 in Port Huron.

He was a former employee of

Prestolite, Semco Energy, G.T.W.R.R., Chrysler Corporation in

Marysville and was a laborer and bartender. He served in the U.S.

Army and was a member of the National Guard. Donald was a member of

VFW Charles Schoor Post #796, B.P.O.E. #343 and Labors International

Local Union of North America #1075. He loved working on crossword

puzzles and enjoyed reading, playing euchre, golfing and bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Betty

of Port Huron; daughter, Leslie (Phil) Leonard of Port Huron;

grandson Jack Leonard of Port Huron; beloved dog, Polly; mother,

Marie Bailey of Port Huron; brother, Larry (Sandy) Bailey of Port

Huron; brother, Thomas (Dee) Bailey of Royal Oak; sister, Barbara

Gillespie of Port Huron; sister, Linda Ort, of Fort Gratiot;

sister-in-law, Illine (Harvey) Hayes of Kimball; brother-in-law,

George Putze of Fort Gratiot; brother-in-law, Howard (Pat) Putze of

Clyde, brother-in-law, Bob Putze of Clyde and several aunts, uncles,

nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his

father Raymond Bailey and brother David Bailey.

A time of Remembrance and Sharing

will be 2 pm Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with The Rev.

Daniel Stewart presiding. Military honors will be conducted under

auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.

Inurnment will be in Ruby Cemetery

at a later date.

Visiting hours are 2-4 and 6-9 pm

Thursday and 1 pm Friday in the funeral home.

Memorials in memory of Donald may

be given to Blue Water Hospice.
