Elizabeth Snow
Elizabeth “Liz” Snow, 75, of Port Huron, was promoted to glory on Sunday, April 17, 2016, peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Marwood’s Independence Pointe in Port Huron.
She was born Elizabeth Ina Paajanen in Marquette, MI on August 1, 1940.
At the young age of nine, her mother, Ina (Lauri) Maki was hospitalized with tuberculosis and Liz was put on a train and had to travel by herself from the UP to St. Clair to live with her dad, Boris (Janet) Paajanen.
Liz graduated in 1960 from St. Clair High School and also graduated from cosmetology school.
She married Thomas E. Snow on July 8, 1985 in Christmas, Michigan. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2010.
Elizabeth loved watching her sports, especially the U. of M. football at “The Big House”. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, including her furry four legged companions, Mellisa and Molly, both blonde Cocker Spaniels.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet M. (David) Driggers and Elizabeth Ann (Allen) Lloyd Sr. of Port Huron; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Jean) Paajanen of Christmas, MI and James (Barbara) Paajanen of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Catherine (James) Light of East China; best friend, Mary Smith of Kimball; several aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael VanBuskirk. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2016 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Major Kirk Schuetz of the Salvation Army, will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Paajanen, David Paajanen, Paul Zimmer, Ronald N. Zimmer II, Steven R. Tollander, Ryan T. Baier, Bryan Lawerence Jr., and Allen Lloyd II.
Donations in memory of Liz may be made to the Salvation Army or Blue Water Area Humane Society.
