Robert H Korth
Robert Henry Korth, 80, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016.
He was born October 23, 1935 in Capac to the late William and Rhena Korth. He married Catherine Marie “Kay” Quain on February 20, 1960 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett.
Robert was a 1953 graduate of Capac High School. He served the National Guard from 1953-1956 and retired in 1998 from the Kroger Company after 46 years of employment. He coached for over 25 years with the Port Huron Minor Travel Hockey Association and his teams participated in many Silver Stick finals and also won some Michigan State tournaments. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron and American Legion Charles Hammond Post #8.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine “Kay”; his daughter, Sandra (Michael) Spanich; two sons, Michael (Paige) Korth and Patrick Korth; five grandchildren, Michael, Kolin and Quain Korth, Madeleine Korth and Matthew Spanich; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Cowhy; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Catherine Quain; four brothers-in-law, Patrick, James, Lawrence and John Quain; and foster brother-in-law, Robert Wiacek.
Visitation will be from 2 - 9 p.m. Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Mr. Korth will lie in state at St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron, on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate.
Burial will in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Emmett.
Memorials may be made to Port Huron Minor Hockey Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.
