Pauline Edna Hayes

Pauline Edna Hayes, 93, of Port Huron, died peacefully Saturday, August 13, 2016, in the loving care of the staff at Marwood Nursing and Rehab, and surrounded by family.

She was born August 27, 1922 in Sarnia, Ontario to the late Thomas and Edna Kemsley.

She served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. After service she became a bookkeeper, which helped to support raising her children after the death of Frank, and led her to live in California and Florida. Many years later she married her old sweetheart Joe and moved to Michigan.

She was a gentle lady who enjoyed "knowing so many wonderful people", loved to travel, had an incredible memory and was generous to a fault. She often expressed gratitude at living a full life and encouraged us to "be good to everybody".

She is survived by her children, Shelley (Robert) Dobosh, Glenda Cogswell, Joe (Ardie) Hayes and Fred (Sandy) Hayes; grandchildren, Zachary Dobosh, Shawn (Ana) Cogswell, Kevin Cogswell, April (Gabe) Cruz, Dann (Heather) Hayes, Scott (Andrea) Hayes, Dr. Julie (Bud) Cichoracki, James (Nicole) Hayes, Fred (Jodi) Hayes Jr., Becky (Dr. Jason) Betcher, Jonnie (Melissa) Yates and Amy (Lynn) Crowell; special granddaughters, Jennifer Barr and Amanda Anderson; and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Franklin Cogswell and Joseph Hayes, son, David Cogswell, brothers, Thomas and David Kemsley and sisters, Dorothy Trowbridge and Betty Powers.

Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016, in Holy Trinity Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church with visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The Reverend Jeffrey Allan will officiate.
