Margaret T O'Hare
Margaret T. O’Hare, of Port Huron, passed on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, after a long illness.
She was born in Port Huron to the late Bert P. and Mary E. O’Hare. Margaret was the second oldest of eight children. She graduated from St. Stephens High School and Wayne State University with a Master’s Degree in Education. She taught and was a principal in schools in various countries such as Japan, France, Italy and the United States.
Margaret lived much of her life in Washington, DC, where she entertained ambassadors, philanthropists and educators. She visited Russia twice and travelled often to Asia and Europe.
She is survived by her four sisters, Mary O’Hare of Port Huron, Annabel Kinnee of Fort Gratiot, Joan (Varce) Murray of Houghton Lake and Victoria (Bill) Hinkle of Houghton Lake; one brother, Patrick (Lilian) O’Hare of Homosassa, FL; sister-in-law, Meredith Schmitt of Port Huron; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Thomas and Bert.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron with visiting from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral time. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
