Margaret Haggerty
Margaret E. Haggerty, 75, of Port Huron, passed away on September 5, 2016, after an admirable battle with cancer. As in life, she spent her last days surrounded by her family.
She was born September 27, 1940 in Detroit to the late Walter Russell and Dorothy (Carson) Bowen. She married the love of her life, Tom Haggerty in 1963, eventually settling in Fort Gratiot, where they raised their family.
She lived in Detroit through her formative years, and remained loyal to the city of her birth throughout her life. She earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Wayne State University.
Margaret’s calling was healing, and she followed that calling through her long career as a therapist. She worked with people even after retiring and all the way until her illness prevented her. She touched the lives of so many with her gifts.
Margaret always said, “Where your treasure is, there also is your heart,” and her treasure was her family.
She is survived by her husband, Tom; her sister, Jean (Chuck) Zboril of Bonita Springs, FL; her children, Bob (Rhonda) Haggerty of Louisville, KY, Tom Haggerty Jr. of Canton, MI, Anne Pashenee of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Kathleen Haggerty of Marysville, and John (Erica) Haggerty of Port Huron; and 15 beloved grandchildren.
