Loretta M Burns
Loretta Mae Burns, 82, of Port Huron, died Sunday, December 4, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 23, 1934 in Detroit to the late Francis and Marion Hammond. She married Francis T. “Frank” Burns on July 20, 1957 in St. Denis Church in Lexington. He died August 5, 2013.
Loretta was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. She worked as a lunchroom supervisor at Woodrow Wilson and Indian Woods Schools. She previously worked at the Croswell pickle factory.
She was a very loving mother and grandmother and was always there for her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelli (James) Helton; daughter-in-law, Lisa Burns; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jessica) Helton, Chantel Helton, Katie Burns, Kevin Burns and Madalyn Burns; 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Evie Kolowich, Muriel Quandt, David Hammond (Colleen), Diane Bowers, Bill (Carol) Hammond, Catherine Zinzo, Leland Hammond and Debbie (Gene) Nowicki; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Mark Francis Burns and her siblings, Ronald, Robert, Doreen and Janis.
A Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church with visiting from 10 a.m. until the service time. The Rev. Salvatore Palazzolo will officiate. Interment of her cremated remains will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Her family prefers memorial donations be directed to the Hermilin Brain Tumor Center at Henry Ford Hospital.
