Leo F. Bachler
April 2nd, 1919 to January 12th, 2010
Clyde- Leo F. Bachler age 90 of Clyde, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 following a long illness.
He was born April 2, 1919 in Marine City son of the late Leo R and Edith (Balfour) Bachler. Leo married the former Frances B. Dazer on August 28, 1948 in St. Stephens Catholic Church. They were married for 61 years.
He worked at Chrysler Corporation for 41 years as an engineer. Leo was a veteran of WWII serving in
the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 in the Americal Division. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Star. Leo was a member of the American Legion and St. Stephens Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Frances B. Bachler; sons, Michael L. Bachler, Patrick T. (Susan) Bachler and
Timothy J. (Cindy) Bachler; daughter, Nancy A. (James) Gilan; nine grandchildren, Scott Gilan, Brian Gilan, Lauren Bachler, Erin Bachler, Nicholas (Jessica) Bachler, Laurie Bachler, Matthew Bachler, Katie Bachler and Sarah Bachler; brother John Bachler; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Bachler and several nieces and nephews.
Leo was preceded in death by his son Thomas J. Bachler; brother Frank Bachler and sister Eleanor Klotz.
Funeral services will be 12 pm Saturday in St. Stephens Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Military honors will be held under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
Visiting hours are 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 11:30 am Saturday at
the church. A rosary will be recited at 7pm Friday evening.
Memorials may be given to St. Stephens Catholic Church or the Wishes of The Family.
