Donovan M. Twiss

Donovan M. Twiss, age 91 of Port Huron died peacefully on January 20, 2010.
He was born April 9, 1918 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He married Frances H. Woods on December 27, 1943 in St. Stephen Church. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2003 after 60 years of marriage.
He became a U.S. Citizen on January 5, 1945 and served in WWII as a Merchant Marine Ensign and worked on the Great Lakes Steamship Lines before and after the war because of his love of the water and boating. He was an avid boater throughout his life with his family and friends. He also worked as a salesman for Sears. He sold cars and was also self-employed in sales. He was a long time member of American Legion Charles Hammond Post #8, L.O.O.M #158, Power Squadron and V.F.W. Charles Schoor Post #796.
He is survived by his son, David (Linda) Twiss of North Street; daughter, Frances (John) Voreis of Grandville; grandchildren,Lisa Jackson of Grand Rapids, Nicholas Jackson of Wyoming, David (Sherri) Evans of Port Huron, Robert (Tracey) Evans of Kimball and Cyndi Evans of Kimball; great-grandchildren, Ainsley Jackson, Alaisha Jackson, Jacob Jackson, Joshua Jackson, Morgan Pratt, Jaxson Lightle and Maverick Lightle; many nieces, nephews and special nephew Chuck Fead, special nieces Lanie Kackmeister, Amy Caulkins and good friend Tom Mugan.
He was preceded in death by his sister Bernice Fead.
Memorial services will be 1:00 pm Monday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev Donald R. Doerzbacher will officiate.
Visitation will be 12:00 pm until service time on Monday.
Memorials maybe given to Blue Water Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
