Ruth Hicks

Ruth Estella Hicks, 93, of Fort Gratiot, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017, in Barss Residential Home, Fort Gratiot.

She was born April 28, 1923, in North Attleboro, Massachusetts to the late Nelson and Mary Brown. She married Kenneth Hicks on November 18, 1978, in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1989.

Ruth was a graduate of the North Attleboro High School in Massachusetts. She served as a radio operator in the United States Navy during World War II and was employed at National Bank of Detroit for 31 years, retiring in 1983.

She loved reading, doing crossword puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her entire family.

She is survived by her four children, Edgar (Julie) Mogle, Jr., Sue Mogle (Diane Ricevuto), Robert (Beth) Mogle and Kathy Parsons; her stepdaughter, Heidi (Dan) Stover; her eight grandchildren; the mother of two of Ruth's grandchildren, Carol Mogle; her nine great-grandchildren; her three sisters-in-law, Connie Brown, Anna Brown, and Bev Brown; and her brother-in-law, Donald (Pat) Schultz. She was preceded in death by her first husband Edgar Mogle Sr, five brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017, in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017, in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Navy and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
