Franklin Warsalla Sr.

Franklin G. Warsalla Sr., 78, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2010 in his home.
He was born August 6, 1931 in Port Huron. He married Francine Minor on October 4, 1952 in St. Stephens Church.
Frank was raised in Port Huron. He was a 1949 graduate of St. Stephens High School. He worked as a quality control inspector at Mueller Brass for over 45 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict serving in both Japan and Korea.
He was very interested in amateur radio and was a 35+ year member of the Quarter Century Wireless Association; he was a Net Manager for A.R.R.L.; an active member of the Amateur Radio Emergency Service and Past President of the Port Huron Chapter of Skywarn.
Frank was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as President of the Parish Council and on the Stewardship Commission, as a Eucharistic Minister and an avid volunteer for the St. Joseph Church Annual Fall Dinner. He was also an avid volunteer for the Guadalupe Mission Lenten Fish Fries. In 2001, he received the United Way Community Hero Award. He enjoyed puttering outside, gardening and woodworking. He was a good grandpa.
He is survived by his wife Francine; children, Patrick L. Warsalla, Franklin G. Warsalla Jr, Beth (Mike) Harvill, Mary (Terry) Loxton and Kelly (Erickson) Wells; 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and a sister, Ellen (Fred) Innis.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Christopher S. and Larry A. Warsalla and his sisters, Virginia Wilson and Lillian Mann.
Funeral Mass will be 11 am. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Monday and Tuesday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 10:30 am. until the service time Wednesday at church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Chorale or Holy Trinity Parish.
