Harry F Welch
Harry Francis Welch, 90, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 23, 2017.
He was born January 14, 1927, in Port Huron, to the late Harry F. and Helen G. Welch.
Harry served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, until he transferred to the U.S. Army in 1947. After serving two years in the Army, Harry attended the University of Illinois and was commissioned to 2nd Lieutenant, he then transferred to the U.S. Air Force as an Aviation Cadet.
Throughout his distinguished career as an aviator in the U.S. Air Force, Harry flew countless types of aircraft around the world during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring in 1965 as a Major.
After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Harry continued to serve his country working in government agencies in multiple roles. Harry enjoyed life, which was evident with everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Welch; three sons; and his grandkids.
Private services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2017, in the Allied Veterans Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
