Richard L. 'Sarge' Gibbs

Richard L. SargeGibbs, 75 of Fort Gratiot, died unexpectedly on May 26, 2010.
He was born July 4, 1934 in New Haven, Connecticut and has lived here since 1972.
He married Ingeborg E. Wurzer. She preceded him in death on May 30, 1983.
Richard retired in 1973 as a Staff Sergeant from the United States Army.
He is survived by sons, Richard L. (Jamie) Gibbs, Jr of Fort Gratiot; Michael D. (Lucinda) Gibbs of Altavista, VA; Karl J. Gibbs of Fort Gratiot; daughter Belinda T. (Marc) Granke of Burtchville Township; 6 grandchildren; step-daughter, Angelika Wienzel of Port Huron; 3 brothers and 4 sisters also survive.
Funeral services will be 10am Wednesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Mitchell Olson will officiate. Burial will be in Burtchville Township Cemetery with military honors under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
Visiting hours are 1-3 & 6-8 pm Tuesday in the funeral home.
