Delores Sassanella

Delores Virginia (Hanel) Sassanella, 85, went to be with her Lord on Memorial Day, May 31, 2010.

She was born to Peter and Elsie (Stang) Hanel on April 21, 1925 in Port Huron. She married C. Fred Sassanella in December of 1942. He preceded her in death December 3, 1986.

God blessed their union with children, Sandra (Jim) Wirtz of LeCanto, FL, The Rev. Connie D. Sassanella of Salem, OH and C. Fred Sassanella of Fort Gratiot; her beloved grandchildren are Connie Wirtz, Jim (Michele) Wirtz, Suzanne (Tim) Wirtz Turner, C. Sean (Tammy) Wirtz, Tiffany (Aaron) Sassanella-Kring, Martin Williams and Elizabeth Williams; her dear great grandchildren are Tristin (Kevin) Fritch Balinski, Andrew Fritch, Olivia and Savannah Wirtz and James Wirtz. Delores is also survived by her brother Peter Hanel of Fort Gratiot.

Delores enjoyed being a homemaker, china painting, flower gardening, baking and cooking. She was a member of St. Paul's and previously of St. Martin Lutheran Churches in Port Huron.

Funeral services will be 11 am. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gordon Peterson will officiate. Burial will follow in Kinney Cemetery.

Visiting hours are 5-8 pm. Friday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 10 am. Saturday until the service time at church.

Memorials may be made to the memorial garden at Regency on the Lake.
