Mary E McGill
Mary Elizabeth McGill, affectionately known as “Liz”, of Port Huron, died March 18, 2018, at the age of 96.
Liz was born October 4, 1921 in Port Huron, the youngest child of the late Roy and Edna McGill. Her father Roy was the proprietor of McGill Grocery Store and later the McGill Coal Company.
She was a 1940 graduate of St. Stephen Catholic High School and enjoyed her employment of 35 years with the State of Michigan Employment Security Commission.
She was a member of St. Edward on-the-Lake Catholic Church and a life member of the League of Catholic Women.
She and her lifelong friend and companion, Marilyn Peck, traveled worldwide and spent winters in Naples, Florida and summers in Croswell, Michigan.
She is survived by her lifelong friend and companion. Marilyn Peck; sister-in-law, Marie Erd of Port Huron; five nieces and nephews, James (Kathy) McGill of Port Huron, Tom (Chris) Erd of Port Huron, Meredith McGill of Dexter, Sue Ellen West of Harbor Springs, Michigan, and Judy Kensington of Hastings, Michigan and their children and grandchildren, especially their great-niece, Patricia Borycki of Novi, Michigan and great nephew, Michael McGill of Minneapolis, Minnesota, with whom she spent happy times. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Edward McGill and William McGill.
A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
