Geraldine B Smith

Geraldine Beverly Smith, 81, of Smiths Creek, died Thursday, May 24, 2018.

She was born February 15, 1937 in Saginaw to the late Glen Shappee and Pauline Sumner. She married Donald Smith on December 30, 1967 in St. Stephen Catholic Church. They enjoyed 50 years of happy and blessed years of marriage.

Geraldine was employed as a secretary at Winkelman’s. She volunteered 20+ years at St. Clair County American Red Cross and served on many committees. She served on St. Anne’s Altar Society of Holy Trinity Parish and the League of Catholic Women. She loved traveling, camping and reading.

She is survived by her husband, Don Smith; her two children, Sherri (Darin) Schatzberg and Debbie Smith; her two grandchildren, Amy and Tom Ginzel; her sister, Irene (Gordon) Wilkie; several nieces and nephews; and her loving canine companion, Princess. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Fred and Clayton “Doug” Shappee.

Mrs. Smith will lie in state at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. The Very Reverend Salvatore Palazzolo, K.H.S. will officiate.

Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery.
