Harold 'John' Butts, Jr.

Harold John Butts, Jr, 60, of Fort Gratiot, died Monday, October 11, 2010 in Port Huron Hospital.
He was born December 19, 1949 in Detroit and has lived here since 1981.
John married Elaine Stover. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2008. He then married Eileen Kreska on October 19, 2009.
He graduated from Osborn High School in Detroit and served in the United States Air Force in Southeast Asia. John served on the Detroit Police Department and in 1981 joined the Port Huron Police Department serving as Patrolman, Traffic Safety Officer, Property Officer and St. Clair County Drug Task Officer. He was most recently employed with the St. Clair County Sheriff Department. He enjoyed golfing, traveling in his motor home, old classic cars and loved animals.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen of Fort Gratiot; daughter, Tricia Butts of Taylor; son, Brian Ball of Taylor; mother, Patricia J. Butts of Fraser; brother Robert W. (Stephanie) Butts of Harrison, Twp; brother, Patrick (Gail) Butts of Macomb; brother Christopher (Margaret) Butts of Chesterfield, Twp; step-daughter, Heather (Jack) Oeder of Sterling, MI; grandchildren, Billy Cunningham, Faith, Savannah and Shane Oeder.
He was preceded in death by his father Harold Butts.
Funeral services will be 10am Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery with Military Honors under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Association.
Visiting hours are 5-8 pm Wednesday and 2-4 & 7-9 pm Thursday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the St. Clair County Humane Society or the Charity of The Donor's Choice.
