Donald R DeLano
Donald Raymond DeLano, 69, of North Street, died peacefully in his home on Sunday, September 9, 2018.
He was born October 13, 1948 in East Detroit to the late Alvin D. and Theresa A. DeLano. He married Pak Tong Suk “Sue” on November 4, 1974 in Korea.
Donald served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he volunteered for four tours of duty and was awarded multiple medals and commendations including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He retired from Chrysler Corporation as a tool and die maker.
He is survived by his wife, of 43 years, Sue; seven children, Cam Nhi (Tin) Van, Jeffrey (Jasmine) Pak, John (Lisa) DeLano, Angela (Chad) McElmurry, Theresa Elizabeth (Dan) Silverthorn, Louise (Mike) Forro, and Alan (Jessica) DeLano; 18 grandchildren; his six siblings, Dennis DeLano, Theresa Brown, Mary Patrick, Jeanette Maertens, Renee Force, Beverly Owens and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald DeLano.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Donald will lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Friday, September 14, 2018 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Father Salvatore Palazzolo, KHS will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Inurnment will be in St. Clair County Allied Veterans Cemetery.
