Leslie "Les" L. Selby
Leslie “Les” LaVerne Selby, 87, of Fort Gratiot, died Wednesday, November 14, 2018.
He was born February 13, 1931 in Port Huron to the late Albert and Rose Selby. He married Elsie B. “Chris” Christopher on November 6, 1954 in Grace Episcopal Church, Port Huron. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2011.
Leslie was a graduate of Port Huron High School and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was employed as a building maintenance supervisor at Michigan Bell Telephone, retiring in 1988, after 31 years of service.
He was an avid golfer, coached hockey, volunteered for Special Dreams Farm and was a member of the Fort Gratiot Lions Club, where he was involved with Leader Dogs for the Blind.
He is survived by son, Robert (Sally) Selby; two daughters, Tracy Selby and Anita Selby; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Gene Selby; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6- 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2018 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2018 in Grace Episcopal Church with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Deacon Linda Crane will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard and the United States Navy.
Memorials may be made to the Lions Bear Lake Camp.
