Joseph Bednarczyk

October 15th, 1923 to November 28th, 2018

Joseph John “Joe” Bednarczyk, 95, of Lexington, was called to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, November 28, 2018.

Joe was born October 15, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan. He married Barbara C. Winkler on January 24, 1959 in St. Anthony Church in Detroit.

He was a proud Army veteran of World War II and was a retired electrician from Parke Davis. He had many cherished card playing friends at the Lexington Senior Center and loved all card games. He also loved Glenn Miller, 1940’s music and dancing. Joe was an avid history buff, enjoyed fishing, playing baseball, volleyball and bowling, participating in these activities well into his 70’s. The most important thing to him was his family.

Joe was the beloved husband of Barbara for 60 years; loving father of Diane (Jim) Poling, Daniel (Kirsten) Bednarczyk, Denise (Jeff) Garrett, and the late Darlene Bednarczyk; grandfather of Ashley, Dan Jr., Alyssa; and much-loved Uncle Joe to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings, Iggy, John, Mary and Judy.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Army.
