Robert Horan

Robert W. Horan, 85, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in Mercy Hospital.
He was born June 9, 1925 in Palms, MI. and has lived in Port Huron the past 53 years. He married Rosemarie E. Fisher on February 27, 1954 in Parisville, MI.
Mr Horan sailed on the Great Lakes for 13 years and survived the sinking of the freighter the Maryland. He then worked as a truck driver for a meat packing company. After suffering a stroke at the age of 37, he devoted his life to raising his seven children. He enjoyed traveling with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Rosmarie E. Horan of Port Huron; children, Deborah J. (Mark) Zimmer of Kalamazoo, Louann (Tom) Jobbitt of Clyde, Roberta Duncan (Mark Radvansky) of Port Huron, Michael (Vickie Albert) Horan of Ft. Gratiot, Julie (Brad) Ramsey of Indiana, Margaret (Paul) Maheu of Port Huron and David (Mary Jane) Horan of Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie, Nicholas, Nathan, Kalena, Samantha, Andrew, Bradley, Diane, April, Autumn, Ashley, Abigail, Courtney, Jack, Phillip, Max, Jake, Dylan, Ashley, Angelique, Curtis, Rosemary, Andrea and Andresa; great grandchildren, Ellie, Deshon, Jayda, Gavin and Caden; brother, Darius A. (Kathryn) Horan of China Twp.; step-sister, Vera LaMarsh of St. Clair; step-brother, Alfred (Winifred) Reiche of Bay City; sister-in-law, Suzanne (Gerald) Kroetsch of Snover; brother-in-law, Melvin (Carol) Fisher of Saginaw; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Horan of Allen Park; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Reiche; Father, William Horan; brother, John Horan; Brother-in-law, Harold LaMarsh; granddaughter, Emily Rose.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patricks Cemetery, Palms at a later date.
Visiting hours are 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the service time Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the Port Huron Hospital Foundation/Diabetes Kids Camp.
