Marilyn J. Peters, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in the Sweet Retreat AFC Home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 23, 1931 in Port Huron. She married Levair B. Peters on February 16, 1952 in St. Joseph Church, Port Huron. He died November 21, 1997.
Marilyn was a graduate of Detroit Business College. She served as a 4H leader, Cub Scout Leader and also as a bus driver. She worked as a secretary at the Thomas Edison Inn for many years. In 1991, she moved to Florida and worked for Winter's Mobile Home Park in Zephyrhills. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Zephyrhills and the Ladies Altar Society. She exuded kindness, humor and adventurousness in her active daily life.
She is survived by her children, Debra (Fredric) Roberts of Lakeport, Craig (Lori) Peters of Lapeer, Dena Bowen of Brighton, Jon (Julie) Peters of Jeddo, Diana McNicol of Port Huron and Deidre (Brian) Mitchell of Port Huron; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sister, Sandra Evans of Port Huron; brother-in-law, Edward (Mary Ann) Peters of Apollo Beach, FL; many nieces and nephews,
She was proceeded in death by her son, Leigh Edward; sisters, Dorothy, Dora and Ewin; brothers, Charlie, Harvey, Donald and John.
Mass of Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron. The Rev. Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Shuckerow, Lee Shuckerow, Jamie Peters, Tyler Peters, Dylan Roberts, Darreck Peters, Nathon Peters and Jeramie Peters.
Visiting hours are 5-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9 a.m. until the service time Monday at church.
Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice.
