Charles W. Maes, 62, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 as the result of an automobile accident.
He was born November 10, 1948 in Port Huron. He married Lisa K. Parrish on June 21, 1969 in Port Huron.
Charles retired from the New Haven Foundry in 2001 after 31 years of service. He enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, playing games and he was an excellent cook. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and loved having his family together.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa K. Maes; children, Rene C. Maes, Storm M. (Kelly) Maes, Charles W. Maes II (fiancee' Krys Burks), Matthew G. Maes (Crystal Goheen) and Elissa A. Maes (John LaFave); brothers, Gary (Judy) Maes and Richard (Shirley) Maes; sister, Camilla J. Checkley; grandchildren, Brandon K., Nicholas R., Jessica A. and Erickson T. Maes; step-grandchildren, Nathan Borowski and Samantha M. Fitz; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his kitty cat, Callie.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jean Maes; granddaughter Emerald I. Maes; and his mother and father-in-law, Sidney and Maxine Parrish.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Max Amstutz will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Monday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
