Ronald Hilla

Ronald C. Hilla, 86, of Fort Gratiot, formerly of Bad Axe and Saline, died Wednesday, March 11, 2020.
He was born July 28, 1933 in Detroit to the late George and Hazel Hilla. He married Violette “Vi” Borgerson on June 23, 1956 in Ypsilanti.
Ronald was a graduate of Ann Arbor High School and studied Business Management at Eastern Michigan University. He served in the U.S. Army. Ronald started his career with the U.S. Postal Service and then worked at Detroit Edison, where he retired as Executive Manager for Business Development. He was an avid golfer, loved fishing and was a self-proclaimed virtuoso whistler. Ronald and Vi enjoyed several retirement years in Sanford, North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Vi; four children, Jennifer (Steven) Ginther, Laura (Cliff) Leach, Stephen (Cheryl) Hilla and Jeff (RaeAnn) Hilla; ten grandchildren, Nathan Ginther, Nicole (Shane) Smith, Megan Leach, Brian (Britney) Leach, Kristen Leach, Sarah (Bryan) Strothmann, Anna (Evan) MacIntyre, Bethann “Caroline” Hilla, Matthew Hilla and Michael Hilla; and seven great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Madelyn, Cooper, Henry, Eloise, Sloane and Jack. He was preceded in death by a brother, George Hilla.
Inurnment will be in the Allied Veterans Columbarium, Port Huron. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
