Kyle Kodiak Rhody, 31, of Burtchville Township, died Saturday, June 20, 2020.
He was born June 26, 1988 in Port Huron.
Kyle was a 2006 graduate of Port Huron Northern High School, attended St. Clair County Community College, and received his bachelor’s degree in Parks & Recreation from Central Michigan University. After college, he worked as the Recreation Director for the City of Midland, then for Mortimer Lumber and most recently for Laborer’s Local 1075. Kyle’s passion was hockey. He began skating at age 5 and played on a number of teams that went to states and nationals. He also loved coaching and had coached the Bantam AA Flags and a USA select team in Italy.
He is survived by his parents, Cheryl (Scott) Hamilton and Frank (Terry) Rhody; a sister, MacKenzie Rhody; grandparents, Judy and Bill Drane; step-siblings, Matthew (Mindy) Drummond and Amanda (Marshall) Hook; aunts, uncles, a niece, nephews and cousins; and his loving companion, rescue dog Stewie. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Beverly and Ralph Keil.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2020 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A limited number of people will be allowed in at a time. Please wear a mask for the safety and comfort of others.
Private family funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. The service will be livestreamed on Kyle’s obituary page on the funeral home website. Family and friends meant the world to Kyle, so guests are invited to bring a photo or small momento to be buried with him.
Everyone is invited to gather in the funeral home parking lot at 1:45 p.m. for the procession to Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot. Pallbearers will be Devin Hutchinson, John Wright, Brian Wright, Eric Denton, Jason Forbes, Matthew Drummond and Marshall Hook.
Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics Michigan or the Port Huron Minor Hockey Association.
