Edward Peters
Edward A. Peters, age 72, of Apollo Beach, FL, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. Edward was born on March 11, 1948 in Mt. Clemens, MI to the late Waid and Iola Peters. He moved with his wife and new baby to the Tampa Bay area in 1968 to attend the University of South Florida where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degrees in Marketing and Accounting.
Edward is preceded in death by his brothers, Levair Peters and Garroll Peters; and grandson, Christian Gandy. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 53 years, Mary Ann; devoted children, daughter, Renee Peters; son, Scott Peters and his wife, Alecia; loved and adored grandchildren, Jarrod Gandy, Joshua Gandy, Taylor Peters, Avery Peters, Jamie Gandy, Brandon Gandy and his wife Samantha; great-grandchildren, Allie Gandy, Noah Gandy and Natalee Gandy; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Edward was an avid sailor. He was a member of the Tampa Sailing Squadron, The Port Huron Yacht Club and former member of Davis Island Yacht Club. He was passionate about sailboat racing and his favorite crew was his family. He started sailing when was 11 years old and over the years brought home countless first place trophies. Edward always knew which way the wind was blowing. Edward was also a 6-year volunteer with the Guardian Ad Litem program where he provided support for many families. Edward was also an active parishioner for over 25 years at St. Anne Catholic Church in Ruskin and served on several committees including Steering and Building committee for the new church.
A Funeral Mass for the Repose of his Soul will be celebrated Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Ruskin, FL. A Catholic Graveside Service will be held Friday, November 27, 2020 at 11 a.m at Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery, 1209 Kraft Rd, Port Huron, MI. Edward’s nephew, Father Richard Lobert will be officiating.
