John Hyde

John E. Hyde, 68, of Port Huron, died Friday, February 12, 2021.

He was born November 18, 1952 to the late Hubert and Marion Hyde. He married Elizabeth A. Simpson on November 18, 1978. She passed away December 6, 2012.

John worked many years at Acheson Colloids until they closed. He was a long-time member of the Blue Water Sportsman’s Association and was currently serving on the Board. For many years he taught 4-H youth shooting sports as he was dedicated to educating future generations in shooting sports and safety. His passion for hunting and fishing placed him where he loved to spend his time - in the great outdoors.

He is survived by his son, David (Shannon) Hyde; step-son, Charles Simpson; step-daughter, Rachel (Eric) Goodman; sisters, Wanda Helmrich, Ruth (Mark) Kennedy; brothers, James (Sue) Hyde and Thomas Hyde; and mother-in-law, Joan DeLand. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Alex and Andrew Hyde, Charles W. Simpson, Laura Simpson, Miranda (Christian) Mahoney and Zachary Stone; a very special friend, Pam Evans; and several nieces, nephews and a great niece.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; granddaughter, KaylaBeth Simpson; grandson, Jakob Simpson; brother, Orrin “Skip” Hyde; and father-in-law, Charles H. DeLand.

Visitation will be held in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home on February 23, 2021 from 4-8 p.m.
