Ruth A Atkinson

September 16th, 1938 to March 12th, 2021

Ruth Ann Atkinson, 82, of Port Huron, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, March 12, 2021.

She was born September 16, 1938 in Port Huron.

Ruth was a housekeeper at Port Huron Hospital for many years before her retirement. She enjoyed reading and loved watching hockey, especially her beloved Detroit Red Wings. Most all she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and being a part of their activities.

She is survived by her husband of over 30 years, John; six children, Ardelle Kingsbury (Larry MacDonald), Cheryl Hilgendorf, David “Joe” Kingsbury (Kelly Thomason), Raymond (Claudine-Marie Hilbec-Stone) Stone, Judi Stone (Rick Woolman) and Gene (Leslie) Stone; grandchildren, Brenda (Tim) Gage, David (Amber) Hale, Kerry Jo Lee, A.J. (Dominique) Stone, David Kingsbury, Vivian Stone, Holli Stone (T.J. Liniarski), Jade-Alan, Jared, Jordan-Rose and Josalan Hilbec, Corey, Keaton, Claire and Claudia Woolman, Catie Snyder, Tyler and Tanton Stone, Chris Simpson and Breanna Loxton; step-children, Michelle (Victor) Reyes and Eugene (Teresa) Atkinson; step-grandchildren, Brendan and Dylan Reyes and Kaitlyn Atkinson; many great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Jimmy Patterson.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Moutox; siblings, Judith Bouverette and John “Butch” Gustincic; aunt, Irene Patterson; and cousin, Jerry Patterson.

Visitation will be from 4-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A limited number of people will be allowed in at a time. Please wear a mask for the safety and comfort of others.

A private family service will follow at 7:30 p.m. Ruth’s son, Raymond Stone will officiate.

All are welcome to attend the graveside committal service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Pastor Byron Hazely will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ruth’s grandchildren.
