Mrs. Dorothy E. McFarlane
April 2nd, 1918 to November 24th, 2011
Port Huron- Dorothy E. McFarlane, 93, died peacefully at her home on November 24, 2011 following a long illness.
Dorothy was born in Rattle Run to the late Frank and Eva Landschoot.
She was a graduate of Marysville High school. Dorothy was employed by Chrysler, Aikman Bakery and retired from the Fogcutter Restaurant when she was 67. She was a founding member of St. Mary Parish in Port Huron.
Besides her family and work, Dorothy's great loves were gardening and travel. She spent hours each day working in her yard and in 2001 was recognized as one of the “yards of the year” by the city of Port Huron. She loved spending part of each summer in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Sister Faye McFarlane, IHM of Fort Gratiot and Gail McFarlane of Farmington Hills; sisters, Anne Lukasek of Holt and Betty Shimmel of Port Huron; a brother, Richard (Marjorie) Landschoot of Port Huron; three sisters-in-law, Leanore, Mary Lou and Alice Landschoot and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Peter, Robert, Harold, Gerald and Raymond Landschoot and her sister, Helen Hills.
Mass of Resurrection will be 10am Monday in St. Edward On-The-Lake Catholic Church, Lakeport. The Rev. Joseph M. Esper will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery
Visiting hours are 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9:30am Monday at the church.
Memorials in memory of Dorothy may be given to St. Edward On-The-Lake Catholic School or the Blue Water Community Food Depot.
