Frederick Carl Kaufman Sr., 82, of Port Huron, died Monday, June 21, 2021.
He was born December 8, 1938 to the late Fred and Velma Kaufman. He married Sandra M. Hoffman December 12, 1973 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2018 after 44 years of marriage.
Fred was employed at Cargill Salt for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, walleye fishing, casinos and Bingo. He loved people and helped found “The Little Store” inside Dorchester Apartments.
He is survived by his sons, Freddy Kaufman Jr. and Dewayne “Jim” (Freda) Sherbutt Jr.; several grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jerry (Ann) Hoffman; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful feline companion, Sassy. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Herman; son, William Sherbutt; granddaughter, Jamie Herman; grandson, Tom DeHarde Jr.; and brother, Dennis Gilbird.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday, July 1, 2021 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Celebrant Laurie Wilson will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
